Steering-system master Flaming River Industries have added several new products for Fords, GMs, and Chryslers to their lineup, with most products made in the United States.
This all-new road-race power rack-and-pinion system is a direct bolt-in kit for the 1965-1970 Ford Mustang. It features a one-piece travel bar that has two mounting holes on each side to easily adjust the pivot points. This travel-bar design reduces bump steer and accommodates lowered cars, as well as various front-end steering-geometry configurations, making it ideal for road-racing vehicles.
Each kit includes a brand-new power rack and pinion with a full 6 inches of travel, cradle mounting assembly with travel bar, optional tilt steering column, optional power-steering pump, universal joints and intermediate shafts, and all mounting hardware. The kit bolts into existing chassis with no suspension modification. Made in the USA.
Flaming River now offers a direct, bolt-in replacement power-steering pump as an alternative to all vehicles using GM Type II power-steering systems. This pump is engineered and assembled by KRC Power Steering and is designed with the same standards as KRC’s racing pumps. This high-performance pump has adjustable flow-control fitting technology, which allows the customer to dial in the feel of the vehicle’s steering in a matter of minutes by changing flow-control fitting sizes.
Features and Benefits:
• Nine changeable flow-control fittings to aid in driver feel requirements
• 2.22 GPM is the standard fluid flow rate; 1.18 GPM to 2.92 GPM are optional
• 1600 PSI pressure-relief valve
• Press-on pulley shaft for direct GM Type II replacement
• Hard-coated rear cover for pump longevity
• Available in satin or polished finishes
• Less cavitation and more durable than GM Type II pumps
• Made in the USA
This machined 6061 billet-aluminum power-steering reservoir is designed to work with stage II style GM pumps. It mounts directly to the pump and eliminates the remote reservoir and long hoses between the pump and reservoir. This fluid reservoir offers a compact streamlined design with a vented cap. A unique “tech etch” design gives it a high-end appearance to complete your installation—making it functional and stylish.
This kit is available with or without a standard GM Stage II–style pump or a KRC® hi-rev pump with adjustable flow fittings for high-performance applications and is made in the USA.
This all-new floor-shift tilt steering column is made from 304 stainless steel and includes turn signals, hazards, and a GM 4 1/4–inch wiring connector. A custom-designed shroud accepts a factory or OE reproduction steering wheel for a seamless appearance and includes a horn contact for horn function. It is available in paintable mill, black or custom powder coat, or polished finishes. Made in the USA.
This all-new roadster column, made from 6061 billet aluminum, includes integrated electronics for turn signals,
hazards, and horn functionality—all in a compact streamlined design perfect for roadsters and coupes. A sleek 1 3/4–inch tube is robotically welded with bearings for smooth rotation. This column will accept a three-bolt steering wheel, or a five- or six-bolt steering wheel with the use of an adapter (sold separately). The overall length is 30 inches with a 3/4″-36 splined output shaft. Made in the USA.
Flaming River has redesigned their Mopar tilt columns to be a direct bolt-in replacement for a variety of Dodge, Chrysler, and Plymouth vehicle applications. Each column comes with a slip-shaft extension that can be cut to size and allows for 1 1/2 inches of slip movement. A universal joint is included for direct connection to the factory steering box (power or manual).
These tilt steering columns are made from 304 steel, use all-new parts, and come in three different finishes: paintable mill, black powder coat, and polished. Each tilt column includes a billet dress-up kit (tilt lever, turn signal arm, hazards) and a female plug for connecting to the original wiring harness. Keyed columns come with a Chrysler-coded key and ignition assembly, and wiring adapter and ignition plug harness for easy installation.
Features and Benefits
• Non-keyed columns fit 1965-1969 Mopar applications; keyed columns fit 1970-1976 Mopar applications
• Direct-fit dash brackets install in factory mounting locations
• Slip-shaft extension comes with billet U-joint for direct connection to the factory steering box
• Includes quick connect wiring adapter and ignition plug harness for easy installation
• Compact shroud design (only 8 inches) allows for driver positioning comfort
• Designed for aftermarket steering wheel
• Made in the USA with a three-year warranty and lifetime serviceability
